Researchers examined a 62-year-old man who had been vaccinated against Corona more than 200 times. According to the scientists, his immune system works “completely normally”, as the Friedrich Alexander University of Erlangen-Nuremberg announced on Tuesday.
They found no negative effects on the immune system. Certain immune cells and antibodies against Sars-Cov-2 are even significantly more common than in people who have received only three vaccinations, the researchers discovered in a study in the journal ‘The Lancet Infectious Diseases’.
Through media reports, scientists learned about the man from Magdeburg (D), who, according to his own statements, was vaccinated against Covid-19 217 times within 29 months. 134 of these vaccinations have been officially confirmed. The Public Prosecution Service of Magdeburg has started an investigation into fraud against the man, the researchers wrote in the study. However, no charges were filed.
Until now, it was unclear what effects the so-called hypervaccination has on the immune system. Some researchers assume that immune cells become less effective due to habituation effects. However, this is not the case for the affected person.
The function of the immune system against other pathogens also remained unchanged, further tests showed. The immune system is apparently not damaged by the many vaccinations. The researchers also pointed out that this was an isolated case. It was therefore not possible to draw far-reaching conclusions or even recommendations for the general population from the results.
