Misty autumn is coming and now you have another reason to lazily relax in front of the TV. And since we all probably don’t have that much to laugh about, today we’d like to talk about the funniest movies EVER.

So: Which movie almost made you laugh out loud? We look forward to your answers. In the meantime, we present our favorites.

A kingdom for a lama
“’A Kingdom for a Llama’ (‘Emperor’s New Groove’): One of the funniest and best Disney animated films ever to date. The memes still hold up today – 23 years later! The timing of the jokes is perfect. David Spade is great as Cusco, arrogance personified. Yzma is a brilliant caricature of a Disney villain. And Kronk is simply perfect from A to Z. How can a 23-year-old children’s movie still be so funny? “It certainly doesn’t make any sense.” But believe me: you will laugh for seventy minutes.’

«’A kingdom for a lama’! I didn’t remember it being that funny as a kid and when I watched it a few months ago I have to say, it’s damn funny!”
The Ring Thing
«But the Swiss-German language version of course. The film is a hoot from A for Almgandhi to Z for Dwarf Erwin. At least I think so. And I think I’m not alone in this – also in our community (I’m looking at you, user ‘Ueli The Schwert’). The film contains many legendary scenes and jokes that I still think about more often than the Roman Empire. Haha. Ha.”

The naked cannon
«Special Forces Lieutenant Frank Drebin protects the life of the British Queen during a visit to the US. For example, the press conference scene will forever be remembered, in which Drebin drinks from a bathtub full of water and when he comes out, the microphone is still on, so the entire room can listen to him pee.
‘The Naked Gun’. Well, that says it. I’m not sure if the movie can still air today, if it still works, or if I even find it funny anymore. But then, holy moly, I almost passed out laughing. It’s also a good alternative for all the “Uh-uh-I-just-think-Monty-Python-is-funny” posers.

PS: I also find Monty Python very funny in this case, but of course I ONLY watch it in English uh-uh, and I knew Blackadder before Mr. Bean, and Alan Partridge eh, and I have a better sense of humor and that can be quantified. So now I’m going to play Minecraft again.”

“Yes, there are a few, and the usual candidates have certainly already been mentioned, for example ‘Monty Python’s Life of Brian’, which is actually very funny. Much less known, however, is ‘To Be or Not to Be’ by Ernst Lubitsch. A black and white film that would probably seem dated to today’s young audiences. But that is deceptive. Released in 1942, in the middle of World War II, the film is set in German-occupied Warsaw and is a captivating comedy that surprises with new twists – and makes fun of the madness of the Nazis.
Zoolander.
Puss in Boots: the last wish
“There are so many funny, older films. But: I recently went to the cinema again and we chose ‘Puss in Boots: The Last Wish’. I’m not sure why, it somehow had good reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. Anyway: What a great, funny movie! Would recommend him to anyone who needs something to laugh about. Other than that, it’s really well done and definitely the funniest movie I’ve seen in the last two or three years.”

“It’s a mockumentary, but: 7 Days in Hell!”
What we do in the shadows
«‹What We Do in the Shadows› (2014) – a shared vampire apartment with a variety of problems. Awesome. From New Zealand director Taika Waititi, before he became famous and got Oscars and all that.”
Airplane: 'The incredible journey in a crazy plane
“I still laugh at ‘Airplane’! In German ‘The incredible journey in a crazy plane’. So many jokes. Still funny on the 20th replay. The same makers also produced ‘Top Secret!’ Also highly recommended and less known.”
Busy stuff
“’Hot Fuzz’ – probably seen twenty times. The ultimate comfort food comedy. F*cking hilarious.”
Borat
“Definitely ‘Borat’! Simple humor, but incredibly funny. The excellently played Borat always makes me laugh.”
