Version 4 of ChatGPT released: it should be even more human

According to the manufacturer, a new version of the chatbot ChatGPT is intended to make the artificial intelligence-based program safer, more accurate and more human-like.

GPT-4 is a “milestone” and the technology demonstrates “human-level performance in some professional and academic tasks,” the California company OpenAI wrote in a blog post Tuesday when the new version was unveiled.

ChatGPT creates texts using artificial intelligence. Users can enter individual commands or phrases, which the system then independently completes using huge amounts of data from the Internet. The new version GPT-4 is “less good than a human in many real-life scenarios, but just as good as a human in many professional and academic contexts,” according to OpenAI’s press release.

Image information can now also be used

According to the information, an important novelty compared to GPT-3.5 is that texts will have to be made from both text and image data in the future. For example, if a user sends a photo of the inside of a refrigerator, GPT-4 will not only correctly identify what’s inside, but also suggest what to prepare with the ingredients. However, the feature is not yet generally available, the US company added.

The software company Microsoft, which has invested billions of dollars in the start-up, announced on Tuesday that its search engine Bing already runs on GPT-4. (sda/afp)
