While illustrations created using artificial intelligence are having their biggest moment, an internet user asked an AI to draw a superhero for each canton in Switzerland. Here’s the result.

It is well known that artificial intelligence is trending. Lately, the drawings developed by tools like Dall-E, Dreambooth or Midjourney have been piling up. Reddit user u/Bread_Car had the bright idea to ask the latter software to draw a superhero for (almost) every Swiss canton.

The result is remarkable, but the exercise was not easy, u/Bread_Car explains:

“I had a lot of options similar to Iron Man. Of course that also looks like an ‘American comic’. Sometimes the software generated backgrounds for certain locations (Bundeshaus, Lake Lugano, etc.), while other times it was super stubborn was or didn’t recognize a word: to my chagrin it refused to generate a saucisson vaudois, and alphorns always looked like trumpets at the end. I also had great difficulty getting Obwalden and Nidwalden to hold ‘big keys’.”

These national superheroes sometimes put symbols related to their home canton in the foreground. As a result, the Romans have a strong preference for drinking. Here’s the full list, which for some mysterious reason isn’t on Zug.
