The decision was made after Truth Social agreed to enforce policies to remove infringing content, Google told AFP (local time) on Wednesday.
Google had previously refused to offer the app via Google Play. The reason for this was a lack of moderation and violations of Google guidelines. Since then, Truth Social has implemented effective systems for reporting and removing unwanted content, Google explains.
Former US President Trump founded Truth Social in February 2021 after being banned from major online platforms, including Twitter.
During his tenure, Trump made more excessive use of Twitter than any US president before him, broadcasting his polemical and often derogatory statements about political opponents around the clock to a global audience. (sda/apa/afp)
