“Dune 2” is coming to theaters early again: thanks to Marvel!

Behind the scenes, there are issues with the upcoming MCU movie “Blade”, which means that the originally planned theatrical release in early November 2023 is no longer possible. MCU’s vampire action player has been pushed back for nearly a year. This set off a whole chain reaction of further shifts – especially at Marvel… but not only!

Because the competition is also reacting to Disney’s “Blade” shift – especially Warner. The studio quickly grabbed the old Blade date and put the Dune sequel on it. Dune 2 will now hit theaters on November 3, 2023. The new German date will probably be November 2, 2023 (but has not yet been announced). So far, the sci-fi sequel was slated for April 16/17. It’s scheduled for November, so it’s two weeks early now.

This will bring you back to the originally planned date of late October 2023, which you deviated from earlier.

“Dune 2”: Lots of old and lots of new stars

The many fans of the celebrated predecessor “Dune” can be happy with that. After all, they now find out a little earlier how the story continues in the theater adaptation by Denis Villeneuve (which deviates from the original by Frank Herbert on a few points).

Of course, in the sequel “Dune 2”, which follows the events of “Dune”, Timothée Chalamet returns as the protagonist Paul Atreides. Also returning are Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Charlotte Rampling and Javier Bardem, among others.

There are plenty of newcomers too – most notably Christopher Walken as the Emperor, Florence Pugh as his daughter Irulan, and “Elvis” star Austin Butler as the ruthless Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen, who actually wanted to rule Arrakis.
