11. Fastest bike – 296 km/h

Some enthusiasts know how fast 300 km/h is on the highway. American Denise Mueller-Korenek (46) reached exactly 296.01 km/h – but on a bike! The mother of three children achieved the record in 2020 at Bonneville Salt Lake in Utah, USA. Korenek was first pulled to a speed of 160 km/h by a dragster, then accelerated even further by using the muscle power in the wind flow thanks to a special gear ratio.

10. Fastest car (public road) – 457 km/h

Swedish hypercar dream company Koenigsegg breaks records almost every year. The brightest moment came in November 2017: in the Nevada (USA) desert, works driver Niklas Lilja reached an incredible speed of 457.49 km/h in the 1360 hp Agera RS. As part of the high-speed hunt, the standard Agera RS broke five records, including a 0-400-0 record in an incredible time of 33.29 seconds. US small-series manufacturer SSC even reached an incredible 508 km/h in 2020; but due to inconsistencies it was not considered a record.

9. Fastest helicopter – 472 km/h

“Faster than TGV!” Eurocopter manufacturers The secret of speed

8. Fastest boat – 511 km/h

Australian Ken Warby, now 82 years old, became interested in water motor sports when he was 16 years old. He always built his racing boats himself; Including the fibreglass-reinforced Spirit of Australia, completed in 1977, on which Warby broke the 511km/h speed record on the Blowering Dam reservoir, which still stands today. Warby purchased the jet engine from a decommissioned military aircraft at auction for $69.

7. Fastest train – 603 km/h

The Japanese Shinkansen L0 magnetic levitation train broke the magic 600 km/h mark in 2015, reaching a speed of 603 km/h. tunnel) will begin official operation in 2027. It will complete the 286 kilometers long Tokyo-Nagoya route in 40 minutes. The fastest wheeled rail vehicle to date is the TGV V150, which reached an incredible 574.8 km/h in France in 2007.

6. Fastest motorcycle – 605 km/h

At first glance, you wouldn’t be able to tell from the “blue cigar” that it was actually a motorcycle. But the Top 1 Ack Attack doesn’t just have two tires to match the design, it also has two Suzuki engines from a Hayabusa race bike instead of one under the lightweight body. Pilot Rocky Robinson accelerated 1000 HP to a breathtaking speed of 605 km/h on the Bonneville Salt Lake (USA) in 2015 – a record! Robinson and his team invested more than half a million dollars in the project.

5. Fastest car (closed track) – 669 km/h

The next high-speed vehicle also visually resembles an oversized cigar. The Burkland 411 Streamliner, with driver Tom Burkland at the wheel, once again set fire to the salt desert of the Bonneville Salt Flats and broke the world speed record for a wheel-drive automobile with an internal combustion engine at 669 km/h on September 26, 2008. Seven years ago, American Don Vesco broke the record for a gas turbine wheel-drive car at a speed of 737 km per hour.

4. Fastest land vehicle – 1227 km/h

We stay in the desert, but move on to the Black Rock Desert in the US state of Nevada: Here, in the autumn of 1997, British military pilot Andy Green broke the speed record for land vehicles, which is still valid today. Green reached an incredible speed of 1,227 km/h on the turbine-powered Thrust SSC. Thrust SSC was considered the first vehicle in the world to break the sound barrier.

3. Fastest plane – 7274 km/h

We take off from land to sky and reach the fastest manned flight of all time: In 1967, pilot William John Knight reached a record speed of 7274 km/h, corresponding to Mach 6.72! Experimental rocket-powered aircraft North America Eight pilots of these flights were therefore recognized as astronauts with corresponding awards.

2. Fastest spacecraft (manned) – 39,897 km/h

Neil Armstrong (1930–2012), the most famous astronaut of all time, once flew the record-breaking The Apollo 11 mission in 1969. A few months earlier, the Apollo 10 mission with astronauts Eugene Cernan, Thomas Stafford and John Young (pictured) had tested various maneuvers in lunar orbit. During the flight back to Earth, they reached a speed of 39,897 km/h in the CM-106 “Charlie Brown” spacecraft!

1. Fastest spaceship (unmanned) – 586,800 km/h

Since August 2018, the Parker Solar Probe space probe has been heading towards the sun, specifically to explore the outermost layers of the atmosphere. On November 21, 2021, the probe actually flew through the region called the corona, with a minimum distance of 8.5 million kilometers from the sun. It reached an incredible speed of 586,000 km/h. In the later stages of the mission, the probe is expected to reach a speed of 692,000 km/h! To put it in perspective: At this speed you could fly from Earth to the Moon in about half an hour.
