Panama will be a scientific ‘center’ during the scientific congress

Panama will become a scientific ‘hub’ thanks to the XIX National Congress of Science and Technology Apanac in 2023, which will be attended by 12 domestic and 18 international exhibitors and more than a thousand participants.

This event, which will take place from From September 26 to 29, 2023organized by the association Panama Association for the Advancement of Science (Apanac) in alliance with National Secretariat for Science, Technology and Innovation (Senacyt)includes a number of scientific activities, such as 16 plenary conferences, 11 symposia, 8 round tables, more than 290 scientific poster presentations and 176 oral presentations.

It was announced that the opening conference, on September 26 at 18:00, will be “Gender equality in scientific and technological institutions: It is not about adding women, but about the transformation of institutional policies and cultures”, dr. Gloria Bonderdirector of the UNESCO Regional Chair “Women, Science and Technology”.

Meanwhile, on September 25, “BRIGHT: Building a research infrastructure oriented towards high-tech progress: space, digital and ecosystems: Italian perspectives” will be held, a pre-congress event aimed at exchanging national and international experiences, establishing alliance cooperation and Research + Development work + innovations (R+D+i), as well as technological knowledge that is used all over the world among the participants.

The latest research and scientific developments that have an impact in the region in disciplines such as sustainability sciences, natural sciences, engineering sciences and technology, health sciences, agricultural sciences, humanities and social sciences, and science education will be addressed by invited experts, including Yiming doctors Bao, Massimo Della Valle, Flavia Riccardo, Gloria Bonder, Carlos R. Ordóñez, Félix de Moya-Anegón, María Soledad Ramírez Montoya, and Vicenç Font Moll.

Finally, at the closing of the congress, National Research Awards: Apanac-Senacyt 2023 Student Award, Research Excellence Award, Ana Sánchez Urrutia Medal for Scientific Perseverance and Mahabir P. Gupta Medal for Young Researchers.

He XIX National Congress of Science and Technology Apanac 2023 It has been implemented since 1995 and is supported by allies such as the City of Knowledge Foundation, the Specialized Higher Technical Institute, the University of Panama and the Technological University of Panama.

In addition, the Explora Center for Science and Art, the International Center for Sustainable Development and sponsors will provide scholarships to young scientists from the interior to participate in the congress.
