“We need partnerships”: Berset calls for a multilateral system at the UN

Federal President Alain Berset (left) had a bilateral meeting with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres on Monday.

In 2015, states committed to ‘working tirelessly’ to fully achieve the targets by 2030. “So let us do this too,” said Berset.

In just a few years, global warming has gone from a sometimes abstract concept to an overwhelming reality. “The consequences increase inequality, affect the global balance, threaten stability, endanger food security and biodiversity, increase environmental pollution and lead to conflicts,” the Federal President warned.

From Switzerland’s perspective, cooperation must be strengthened and forces joined. “We need partnerships and a strong multilateral system,” Berset said. (SDA)
