Driver’s seat, mirrors etc. Do you think it’s easy to set it up correctly? Then it’s time for our instructions.
adjust the seat correctly
- Sit down, straighten the backrest almost straight and slide it back onto the backrest (hips are straight).
- Now when the pedals are fully depressed (in manual vehicles the clutch is decisive, the foot surface must be in full contact with the pedal) slide the seat lengthwise until your legs are slightly (!) bent (never fully extended).
- Then adjust the height: a comfortable height with good all-round visibility. Deeper is usually better. Your thighs should be fully supported, but the backs of your knees should ideally be three inches wide from where you’re sitting.
- If so, adjust the inclination of the seat cushion: not too flat so that the thigh is fully on it, but not much more inclined, because otherwise it will be uncomfortable in the long run (tingling).
- Backrest slope: tends to be steeper than inclined. Your shoulders should always remain in contact with the backrest, even when turning the steering wheel. If the backrest is too flat, you won’t be able to steer properly in an emergency and, in the worst case, you could even slip under the seat belt in a crash. So please never “lay down” randomly.
- Adjust the lumbar support: it should always support the S shape of the spine.
- To protect the technology, do not keep your foot on the clutch and your hand on the gear lever.
Correctly adjust and grip the steering wheel
- Longitudinal: As a test, put your arms on the steering wheel, then your wrists should rest.
- Altitude: Hold while driving from “quarter to three” to “twelve”. Your elbows should be slightly bent and your forearms fairly straight. Never sit too close (“squatting”) because of the airbag.
Adjust the headrest correctly
- Adjust the height: The top edge of the headrest is at least (!) crown height. It’s higher because in a crash, the body lifts off the seat. No deeper, otherwise you risk whipping!
- Today, headrests are usually length-adjustable. Ideally, as close to the head as possible.
Adjust the straps correctly
- Height: The shoulder strap should be in the middle of the shoulder. Not on your neck, not on your arm.
- Position: Do not pull the lap belt over your stomach, but over your pelvis bones. If you are wearing a belt, pass the belt under the belt buckle – otherwise, in the event of a collision, the belt buckle could open and press against your stomach.
- From time to time, stretch the shoulder strap while on the move, and do not wear heavy clothing behind the wheel: the less “belt slack”, the faster the belt will fit on the body.
set mirror right
- Height: The traffic behind you and as much of the road as possible should be visible; Looking at the sky is useless. Especially on big cars, you can lower it a bit because the side of the road helps when maneuvering/parking (less scratches on the rims), but the main thing is that the traffic needs to be visible.
- Landscape shot: Only a very narrow lane of the car should be visible at the edge of the picture. The fewer cars you see, the smaller the dangerous blind spot.

Tips for travelers
- Passengers should also fasten their seat belts and not adjust their backrests too straight.
- As a passenger, never put your feet on the dashboard because of the airbag.
- If you don’t fasten your seat belts, you not only endanger yourself but also those in front of you!
