Martina Hingis is new to SRF.

A big name strengthens the tennis team in Leutschenbach. Martina Hingis (42) will be used as an expert for the first time at the French Open (from May 28).

However, tennis fans will have to be patient for the craftsmanship of the former world number one (209 weeks). The five-time Grand Slam singles winner will take her place alone at the SRF microphone at the women’s final (June 10). In addition, she will also accompany SRF during the Wimbledon tournament (winner 1997) about three weeks later.

Daniel Bolliger, Head of Live Sport at SRF, is proud “that we managed to win a world star as an expert in Martina Hingis”. “Your tennis knowledge and your anecdotes will be a great enrichment for the spectators.” And the East Swiss also exudes anticipation: “It is a completely new challenge and I will certainly be a bit nervous, especially since the baptism of fire is a final. But I am very happy to be able to accompany the tennis entourage up close again.”

From next Monday, SRF will broadcast matches every day from Paris, with and without Swiss participation. Former top 50 player Michel Kratochvil (44) is also used as a co-commentator from the semi-finals of both genders. (che)
