In December 2022, 2.5 million people received a retirement pension and 212,000 a survivor’s pension, the Federal Social Insurance Service (BSV) announced on Thursday. The number of state pensioners increased by 1.4 percent.
In 2022, the AHV paid a total of CHF 47.8 billion in benefits. Old-age pensions accounted for the bulk of this, at CHF 44.2 billion. There were also CHF 256 million in supplementary pensions for children and spouses and CHF 2 billion in survivor’s pensions for widows, widowers and orphans.
In 2022, disability insurance (IV) paid CHF 9.7 billion to 453,000 people. Pensions accounted for the largest share at CHF 5.4 billion. At the end of 2022, 344,300 people had an allowance (EL).
