Rumors circulated over the weekend that Frei was a popular candidate for the Hoppers. There, sports director Bernt Haas is looking for a new coach after the dismissal of Giorgio Contini – and “80 percent” has been found, according to Haas in the “Tagesanzeiger”.
Only for GC almost everything clear?
Blick asks Alex Frei. The 43-year-old reacts somewhat surprised: “GC? I don’t know about that.” There was no contact between the two parties. Not yet?
Perhaps Haas said there was 80 per cent agreement on the new coach within the GC – and he still doesn’t know how lucky he is.
Until last February, Frei was a coach at FC Basel. After 34 games and an average of just over 1.5 points per game, he had to resign his position there. Since then, Frei has been without a job.
