What a start to the World Cup season for Swiss Rowing! Roman Röösli wins the doubles competition at the start of the World Cup rowing season in Zagreb. The man from Lucerne triumphed alongside Andrin Gulich for the Spanish and Danish boats. But the duo, who took to the water together for the first time, are not the only team to bring success to Swiss Rowing.
Fabienne Schweizer and Lisa Lötscher win in the double sculls, Dominic Condrau, Joel Schürch, Kai Schätzle and Patrick Brunner, who also took part in this formation for the first time, triumph in the coxless four for South Africa and Ukraine.
In the women’s light double sculls, two podium places are in Swiss hands: Patricia Merz and Frédérique Rol are at the top, Eline Rol and Olivia Nacht are in third place. The fifth gold medal for the Swiss camp goes to Jan Schäuble and Raphael Ahumada Ireland, who are fastest in the easy double sculls.
The high efficiency of the Swiss team is not up to standard. Some top countries are not present at the World Cup opener. (SDA/nsa)
