Stands in the final of Madrid: Jan-Lennard Struff.

6:4, 6:3 victory over Croatian Borna Coric – Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz gave himself as a gift on his 20th birthday. The defending champion confidently advances to the final of the Masters 1000 tournament in Madrid.

In the final on Sunday he will meet the German surprise man Jan-Lennard Struff (ATP 65), who beats the Russian Aslan Karazew (ATP 121) in three sets. Struff is the first lucky loser to make it to the final of a Masters. In addition, the German took revenge for the bankruptcy in qualifying with the semi-final victory. Both played against each other for the second time in Madrid, because the Russian had beaten the German, who was allowed to move up in the final qualifying round after a short cancellation.

Alcaraz is already chasing his fourth title in 2023 after Buenos Aires, Indian Wells and Barcelona and will defend the title in the Spanish capital. Juan Carlos Ferrero’s protégé was injured at the Australian Open and only started his season in February. (SDA)
