Christian Fassnacht (29) is an old fox in the YB hut. He has been with the club continuously since the summer of 2017, making him the longest-serving championship player alongside goalkeeper David von Ballmoos (28). Fassnacht reveals nine secrets from the master cabin for SonntagsBlick.

Boat DJ

«Since the departure of our old DJ Noumi Ngamaleu, this task has now been divided over several shoulders. This season Loris Benito, Kevin Rüegg and Fabian Rieder take turns. For me, Loris is the best DJ. He is the most versatile and always has the latest songs in his repertoire. The other two aren’t bad either. Thorsten Schick encountered the greatest resistance as a DJ. The Austrian mainly played Schlager. It was okay for me, but it didn’t really go down well with all the non-German speaking players.”

mega music system

«To get in the mood for the games, we have created a playlist in which the players can put their music. We are responsible for what happens in our cabin. By the way, we installed a great music system there – it always gets very loud. If you want different music or rest, you should wear headphones or prepare for the competition in the weight room or rec room. »

slow shower

“On the day of the match, Cédric Zesiger is always the last to leave the dressing room. I have no idea what he keeps doing for so long. We always have to wait for him on the bus at away games. When we eat something with our family in the stadium after the home games, I have often had to tell Cedi’s family to be patient. During the week, Filip Ugrinic is the slowest. When we all go out for lunch together, he regularly calls to ask if we can order something for him. By then we are usually already at the starter. He dawdles after training, still doing this and that. He has his own rhythm.”

team honey

“Most of our championship celebrations are paid for from the team’s coffers. The biggest donor to the team treasury is probably Cheikh Niasse, as he hasn’t fully internalized Swiss punctuality yet.

board or card games

“In the Nati, we YB players were already laughed at because we always come to eat together. It’s not that we want to be alone, not at all. But we’re not used to that. At YB we have a strong team spirit: we eat together and stay often sit longer. We also brought the board game ‹Brändi Dog› to the national team. We also play other card or board games.”

The banana of the day

“We have introduced a special ritual: we hand out the ‘banana of the day’ every day. We bought a large fabric banana. After training, we put this stuffed banana in the locker of whoever caused the negative highlight of the day. Either you trained very badly, or someone is annoyed because they lost. Recently, one of the staff even took the banana and put it in another staff member’s locker because he didn’t like sports. The banana of the day is funny.”

The vain player?

“Cedric Itten. Since he has long hair, he stands in front of the mirror for an extremely long time. He makes sure everything is in its place, everything fits. You never really see him without his haircut. I recently caught him putting perfume on his hair sprayed. He said the hair should also smell nice. When it comes to creams and body care, Ali Camara is number 1. When he showers, it’s a procedure.”

The pause clown

“I’ll take Lewin Blum. A great guy and a talker. In the beginning he was of course still relatively shy, but that has changed in the meantime. »

The muscle package

“Joel Monteiro is the most muscular person in terms of his character. His strength, his explosiveness. He’s in the weight room now and then, but really doesn’t need it. If he lifted weights, he could be a bodybuilder. Zesiger and I probably spend most of our time in the weight room, we’re both quite slim and that’s why we need strength training the most.”
