Risky neckline and transparent corset: Margot Robbie repeated the iconic image of Cindy Crawford

The Hollywood star with Australian roots made a spectacular appearance at the Met Gala in New York. Margot wore a fitted black floor-length Chanel dress with a strap over one shoulder and a little theatrical train. The chiffon outfit was highlighted by a revealing heart-shaped neckline and a transparent PVC corset with gold chains at the waist. Robbie showed off her slim figure in a couture look.

This year, the event honored the memory of Karl Lagerfeld. The Margot dress was created by the designer for the Haute couture spring-summer 1993 collection. The Babylonian star wore black Chanel heels. From jewelry, she chose earrings in yellow gold with diamonds “Impression Florale” from the Coromandel collection, as well as several rings, including an engagement ring. Robbie went minimal with neutral eyeshadow and nude lipstick. Her hair was styled into classic Hollywood curls.

Margot arrived at the event without her husband Tom Ackerley. The artist has been the ambassador of the French fashion house since 2018. The original version of her dress from the haute couture collection was walked down the catwalk by Cindy Crawford, who at the time was at the peak of her career. It happened at a show during Paris Fashion Week in January 1993. Unfortunately, now the Chanel archive collection is not available to the general public.

“I’m at Chanel, Cindy Crawford wore this dress in 1993. They redid it for me and it’s obviously Carl’s design. I actually feel really great about it,” Margot said.

The star noted that the Met Gala is always an exciting night for her and her colleagues. “It was a great honor for me to know Karel to some extent. I was the last brand ambassador under him. I’m thrilled that we’re honoring him tonight because he was special,” the Daily Mail quoted the artist as saying.

Karl Lagerfeld died on February 19, 2019 at the age of 85 from complications related to pancreatic cancer. The fashion designer has been a creative designer for Chanel, Fendi as well as his own label. He has also collaborated with Chloe, Pata and Balmain during his career in the fashion industry.
