Adrian Lehmann secures Swiss championship title at Zurich Marathon. The man from Oberaargau crossed the finish line in 2:11:44 hours, improving his personal best by 45 seconds over the 42.195 kilometres.
Only the Kenyan Mark Kiptoo (2:09:12) and the Ethiopian Sileshi Kifle Kefyalew (2:10:50) covered the distance faster than Lehmann. The Swiss championship podium was completed by Simon Tesfay (2:14:04) and Patrik Wägeli (2:16:28).
In the ladies, Samira Schnüriger (2:41:40) won the title and crossed the finish line in fourth place. Joëlle Flück secured silver (2:46:24), Tanja Eilinger (2:47:57) bronze. The fastest woman in the Lake Zurich basin was the Ethiopian Helen Bekele (2:24:14). (SDA/SME)
