A mild draw between Racing de Ferrol and Deportivo

Author: Marcos Miguez

It was a pity. Although these derbies are usually like that: so extremely even, with so much fear of defeat that nothing happens in the end.

On Dépor’s side, apart from the play of Svensson and Artur, nothing else happened. The team had very little initiative on the ball, and was able to be solid in defense. Meanwhile, Racing started a little more into the game, with the most pressure. He played longer in the opponent’s field, he had more intent, more depth and more width, especially on the wings, where he has two differential players that Deportivo knew how to handle well. Óscar Can’s approach was very little known to me.

It was a bland draw. You can end up in the draw showing a lot more, having more intent, wanting to be more of a protagonist. Dépor has always been cramped for me. Always at the mercy of the rhythm set by Racing. No way to hurt him except in some arreón. The game was played in a first league environment and, apart from these nuances, it didn’t work for me.

Cano was looking for numerical superiority in the middle of the field, but there was very little space to combine. I was surprised that he did not put a player on the left wing before the meeting with Fornos, with a yellow card from the 20th minute. However, he insisted on that model of direct play, first with Svensson and then with Arturo, but it was not very fruitful.

In the end, Dépor had the clearest chance through Artur, who inexplicably kicked it out. Hobbies followed, but I wanted more in sports.
