On the track, Alonso is experiencing a second spring this season with his new team Aston Martin. Fernando Alonso (41, 359 GP starts, 32 wins) finished on the podium for the third time this season in the chaotic race in Australia on Sunday. But outside the circuit, the Spaniard is on his own again.
Just a few hours after the race Down Under, the 41-year-old announced the separation from his girlfriend Andrea Schlager: “We want to let you know that our relationship as a couple is over. We were lucky enough to spend a fantastic time together and it will stay that way, but in a different way,” the 2005 and 2006 Formula 1 world champion wrote on Instagram.
Alonso had been in a relationship with Austrian TV presenter Servus since the end of April last year. Almost a year later, the heartbreak follows. “We thought it appropriate to tell you this now. Thanks to all who have supported us.” (mab)
