17 gold medals at the World Cup: Amélie Wenger-Reymond resigns.

Amélie Wenger-Reymond, 35, has announced the end of her career. De Basel, who has lived in Valais for a long time, is considered the queen of telemark.

In her 15 seasons, with a two-year break due to motherhood, she has won everything in this discipline. 17 gold and 8 silver medals adorn her World Cup record, she celebrated 164 World Cup victories and won 47 crystal balls (11 times the overall World Cup).

“Today closes a big chapter of my life, it’s hard to find words to describe all the emotions that are flowing through me,” said Wenger-Reymond on Swiss Ski’s website. The decision to resign had been made long ago and her daughter’s encephalitis is said to have accelerated the process.

Wenger-Reymond: «I can only say: THANK YOU! Thank you for supporting me over the years and enabling me to fully live my sporting dream.” (SDA/che)
