Book edits are trendy. Whether it’s House of the Dragon, Harry Potter or The Lord of the Rings, some of the best TV productions are based on fiction. If you don’t have the time or inclination to read, Audible lets you devour countless books without turning a page. Just listen to your favourites.

Currently, as part of the spring sale, you can get a huge discount on Audible subscriptions. If you take out a subscription before April 3 (23:59), you pay for four (!) months only 2.95 euros each instead of 9.95 euros. You save 7 euros per month and a total of 28 euros. After the four months, the subscription costs the regular 9.95 euros per month. But you can cancel at any time.

Hear “Harry Potter” and Co. wherever you want

Every month you get a free credit that you can exchange for a book. Often there are also offers, so that you can get two books for one credit, for example. The author of this text uses Audible on almost every occasion. He is currently listening to the Harry Potter series, which is a free subscription and read by Rufus Beck. So you don’t have to spend any credit for it.

With the Audible app you always have your audiobooks with you, whether you’re walking the dog or doing the housework. With the right audio book, doing the laundry or vacuuming can quickly become your favorite activity, provided you have the right in-ear headphones.

The Lord of the Rings audiobooks are especially fun, especially the editions featuring the voice of Joachim Höppner, who dubbed Gandalf in Peter Jackson’s film trilogy. But you can also listen to “Fire and Blood – Book One: The Rise and Fall of House Targaryen of Westeros” to better follow “House of the Dragon” and prepare for Season 2.

Variable speed audiobooks, podcasts and radio plays

There are also plenty of podcasts and radio plays to choose from. Most podcasts are free. A radio play recommendation is “Sandman”, which was very extensively produced and brought to life by well-known dubbing actors such as David Nathan (voice of Johnny Depp and Christian Bale), Andreas Fröhlich (Edward Norton) and Giuliana Jakobeit (Amy Adams).

By the way, you can adjust the speed at which the audiobook is played individually and steplessly. A tip: 1.25x speed is the ideal settingso that you understand everything well, but still get through an audiobook fairly quickly.

A bottleneck with audiobooks, however, is always the voice that reads the title. Some voice actors can even ruin entire books for you. But that’s not a problem because Audible lets you play free samples of any audiobook to get a sense of what the speaker is reading.
