The organizers of the ESAF present a balanced balance sheet.

The Federal Wrestling Festival in Pratteln 2022 now reports a balanced final score!

Thanks to contributions from private individuals, all outstanding bills could be paid, the OK announced on Monday. The request for money from the canton is therefore withdrawn.

Two and a half months after the festival, it was said that “achievement of a balanced fixed account is a challenge”. The organizers had exceeded their budget of 42 million francs, the resulting gap was about four million francs. Nevertheless, OC chairman Thomas Weber was confident that he could present a balanced balance sheet at the end.

Sponsors were still denied

Several solutions were tested. The sponsors, among others, were knocked at the door, but they refused to help. As a last resort, they applied for support from the canton. On February 16, the district administrator of Basel approved an additional cantonal contribution of up to CHF 500,000. The closed group “The people swing along” then launched a referendum against this increase in expenditure.

On the other hand, a signature collection was launched by the closed group “The people wave along” so that the taxpayer does not have to close the gap. Since private individuals are now paying for it, the referendum is no longer valid. (bir/sda)
