Bad luck for Silvan Dillier. The Swiss injured his left hand in his first race in 2023. The 32-year-old crashed on Sunday during the Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne road race. “Some riders hit each other and I flew over the front wheel. I hit the ground with my wrist. I actually wanted to continue driving, but then I quickly realized that the pain was too great,” the 32-year-old describes the incident to Blick.

An examination has shown that Dillier has suffered a fracture of the navicular bone. The next day the injury was repaired with a screw. He missed the Paris-Nice stage race. Still, he is optimistic. “If everything goes according to plan, I’ll be back on the bike in two weeks.” (mab)
