France’s best downhill skier threatens a long break! Romane Miradoli falls badly during the first training in Kvitfjell and is immediately taken to Oslo for further examinations. The French Ski Federation writes about an as yet undefined injury to the left knee and according to information from Blick, Miradoli suffered a cruciate ligament rupture.
The 28-year-old has achieved two podium finishes in her career, both in Switzerland. A year ago she won the Super-G in Lenzerheide and last December she came third in St. Moritz, also in the Super-G. Recently the Swiss snow didn’t bring her luck, last weekend she got caught up in the Crans-Montana VS downhill and crashed horribly.
Three Swiss women in the top 10
The first best time in Kvitfjell goes to Mikaela Shiffrin. The American is in practice 0.52 seconds faster than Kajsa Vickhoff Lie (No). Cornelia Hütter (Austria, +0.72) is third.
Of the Swiss, Lara Gut-Behrami (5th), Corinne Suter (6th) and Joana Hählen (7th) are especially convincing. However, the ranking is not (yet) very meaningful, as the women’s ski circus is a guest in the Olympiabaks in Kvitfjell for the first time since 2003. It is important to familiarize yourself with the slope first.
The Super-G races are on Friday and Sunday, with the downhill on Saturday.
