Manager destroys the last ray of hope: Pogba misses the World Cup

France’s Paul Pogba will not play in the World Cup, which begins on November 20 in Qatar. He did not recover in time from an ongoing knee injury, his manager Rafaela Pimenta said on Monday.

Pogba suffered an injury in preparation for this season. He has therefore not played a single game for Juventus, to which he returned this summer after six years at Manchester United.

The 29-year-old midfielder recently reappeared at the training ground and looked like he was on his way back. But according to his manager, the midfielder is not ready in time for the World Cup.

“extremely painful”

“Following medical examinations on Sunday and Monday, it has become clear that Paul needs a longer rehabilitation period after his operation,” said Pimenta. “It’s extremely painful. That’s why he won’t be able to play France at the World Cup in Qatar.”

Pogba’s failure is a second major setback for national coach Didier Deschamps. The French are also missing N’Golo Kanté in Qatar. The Chelsea midfielder is suffering from a hamstring injury.

Pogba and Kante won the World Cup with France four years ago in Russia. Pogba even scored in the final against Croatia.
