Union Berlin has regained the lead in the Bundesliga. At the An der alten Försterei stadium, Danilho Doekhi headed the home team past Borussia Mönchengladbach well into injury time: 2-1. FC Bayern Munich has fallen back to second place.

Union expected a 1-0 through club top scorer Sheraldo Becker. The Suriname international effectively blocked a Rani Khedira shot but did so with one hand. The goal from Borussia Mönchengladbach counted. Nico Elvedi headed in after a corner.

Union struck in a glowing quarter of an hour in Berlin. Kevin Behrens equalized with a header, a Christopher Trimmel header was disallowed, but Union won with the last action of the game through Doekhi’s goal from a corner in the 97th minute.

While Becker was the man of the season at Union Berlin with six goals so far, this time the leading role went to Doekhi. The ex-Excelsior, Jong Ajax and Vitesse defender who joined Union last summer scored his first Bundesliga goal.
