World number 74 Arthur Cazaux collapses in the middle of the match at the ATP Masters in Miami.

Scary scene at the ATP Masters in Miami. In the third set of the domestic French qualifying match between Harold Mayot (22, ATP 141) and Arthur Cazaux (21, ATP 74), the latter suddenly tilts while waiting for the opponent’s serve. Paramedics quickly rush to his aid.

The young Frenchman is unconscious and is taken from the field in a wheelchair. Nothing is currently known about the background or current condition of the top 100 player from Montpellier. However, high temperatures in Florida are believed to have played a role. During the match the thermometer rose to about 31 degrees Celsius and the humidity was around 70 percent.

There is a lot of criticism on social media

Cazaux’s opponent is the target of fierce criticism on social media for allegedly not reacting or reacting too slowly to the events. Mayot immediately responded to the accusations.

“That was my reaction when I realized it was serious. I focused on the next point and didn’t see Arthur fall. I went to him when I realized it wasn’t just cramps. Arthur and I are childhood friends and there is nothing but brotherhood and respect between us, no matter what. Get well soon bro,” he wrote in his Instagram story next to a photo of himself lying on the ground next to Cazaux.

On X he refers to a video of him running towards his opponent to control him.
