Marc Hirschi reaches the podium in the cycling classic Milan-Turin.
Christian, only 19, finished the oldest classic on the cycling calendar – the race has been held since 1876 – seven seconds behind winner Bettiol.
Hirschi, five years older than him, loses two seconds to his compatriot and teammate on the 177 kilometer route from the Milan suburb of Rho to Salassa near Turin. It is the first platform for Christians this season; Hirschi won the Drôme Classic in France at the end of February. (SDA)
