Not so long ago there was a lot of misery among Swiss motorcycle enthusiasts. For the 2024 MotoGP season, there was a risk that it would be shown on free-to-air television. The TV rights for Germany and Switzerland now belong to the pay-TV channel Sky; Previously, the Austrian channel ServusTV broadcast the MotoGP for free in German-speaking countries.

The big TV mystery this winter was whether ServusTV, the channel from the Red Bull cosmos, can still be received in Switzerland with its extensive Töff program. Because even official questions to ServusTV were only answered vaguely: “The ServusTV signal is only intended for reception in Austria.” The channel is a normal part of the offering for all major providers such as Sunrise or Swisscom.

SRF is expanding its live program because of Dettwiler

And at SRF? It was clear that the MotoGP premium class would remain in the live program – but it was unclear for a long time whether viewers would also be able to see the Moto3 races, in which Noah Dettwiler (18) was the first Swiss GP rider in the dry period for the first time in two years the World Cup is there.

But now the world suddenly looks brighter than ever for motorcycle fans. Because Swiss television listened to their wishes: SRF announced this weekend before the start of the season that in addition to MotoGP, Moto3 with Dettwiler will also be included in the live program all year long.

And that’s not all. Because something is also happening at ServusTV. Albeit unofficial. The Austrians only have the Töff World Cup on their schedule for their country – but since the channel can still be received in Switzerland, the MotoGP action is still available here too. Instead of not being on free TV, as feared, Dettwiler’s debut (Sunday, live 3 p.m.) as a regular World Cup pilot can now suddenly be seen on two channels.
