Short tracker Itzhak de Laat will miss World Cup competitions in Montreal this weekend. De Laat is ill and will be replaced by Bram Steenaart.

28-year-old De Laat had qualified with the necessary effort and would start in the 1000 and 1500 meters. Steenaart will board a plane to Canada on Wednesday, where the tournament begins with qualifying on Friday.

Schulting back

Suzanne Schulting will be back for the first World Cup game of the season. She had to miss the Dutch Open because of a sinus infection, but she will start in Montreal over 1000 and 1500 meters.

Earlier it was announced that Sven Roes will not be in action again this season. De Fries will soon have hip surgery and recovery will take at least eight months.

After this World Cup, the selection for the game will be determined a week later in Salt Lake City, USA.
