During the match between Ajoie and Ambri, Fohrler (left) and Gélinas collide.

It was the most talked about scene of the hockey weekend. In the match between Ambri and Ajoie (3:2), Tobias Fohrler (26) and Eric Gélinas (32) collide. Linesman Sandro Gurtner (32) intervenes – and is promptly hit in the face with a fist.

The perpetrator was apparently found quickly: In the first video images, Fohrler appears to be the clear perpetrator, the Leventin defender is sent off the ice for “insulting officials”.

The association blocks Fohrler anyway

But on closer inspection it appears that it is impossible to say whether it is actually Fohrler’s fist that hits the referee. The Ambri actor is grabbed by the collar by Gélinas and held by the sweater. Fohrler hits the arm – and a hand hits the referee in the face.

After the incident, Fohrler Blick made it clear that he was not responsible for the blow. Ambri also supports his player’s statements.

The association’s individual judge has now confirmed that Fohrler’s glove did not hit the referee. But this doesn’t do much for the Ambri star, because he still gets a suspension. As the National League announced on Wednesday, Fohrler will be suspended for four matches “for offenses against a referee” and must pay a fine of 6,500 Swiss francs. The 26-year-old has already served two of his four suspensions. (bjl)
