A week after the 30:36 defeat in Denmark, the Swiss handball champions were only just away from a successful revenge in front of their own audience. After a great comeback, the cadets had to admit defeat in 33:34.

The cadets made a major false start “in the game of games in the current European campaign”, as team manager David Graubner put it. After six minutes they were 0:6 behind and after 23 minutes 9:18. However, Schaffhausen’s team did not give up. They equalized shortly after half-time to make it 19:19 (34th) and later even took the lead four times with a goal. The decision came just 50 seconds before the end, when Bjerringbro-Silkeborg scored the winning 34:33.

After the third and penultimate match of the main round of the second highest level of the European Handball Cup, the cadets took third place in the group of four. Now there will be a showdown next Tuesday in Serbia against Vojvodina Novi Sad for the last ticket for the eighth finals. In the home match the cadets won 27:24, this time even a draw was enough to advance. (SDA)
