The Hungarian association suspended Moniz for a month, the club supported him in the fight against racism
Coach Ricardo Moniz has been suspended for a month by the Hungarian FA. This was in response to the red card he received for wanting to take his team off the field after repeated monkeys rang out in the stands.
Moniz was furious when yet another incident of racism went unchallenged after players from his club Zalaegerszegi TE were targeted for the second time in four days.
“The club’s players and staff support the head coach and we believe we will come out of this situation stronger,” said Zalaegerszegi TE’s sporting director Attila Dragóner. “We will continue to adhere to our principle that racism has no place on the football field.”

Moniz has already said he will contest a possible penalty: “I won’t accept that. Then I’ll go to UEFA. They’re ready.” He also said he would not shy away from raising the racism case with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.
