During the regular meeting of the FIS board, it was decided that all parties should find a timely solution that would fulfill all obligations necessary for the event to take place.
“Swiss-Ski and the World Cup Organizing Committee are pleased that the basis for an early resolution and signing of the hosting agreement has been restored,” Diego Zuger, co-CEO of Swiss-Ski, said in a statement. “We will continue to fully comply with our obligations and feel strengthened in our belief that we can bring the negotiations to a successful conclusion.”
On Friday evening, during the World Cup competitions in Crans-Montana, the FIS published a statement based on research by the NZZ that Swiss-Ski did not want to fulfill the contractual obligations included in the application file. This concerns the financial guarantees provided by the federal government, the canton of Valais and the Crans-Montana municipal association when the candidacy was announced. Swiss-Ski immediately dismissed the accusation, complaining that several allegations were “simply not true.”
