Fans fled the scene, some jumping over barriers. The police stormed into the station building with their weapons drawn.
Suspected perpetrators arrested
Two armed attackers were arrested shortly afterwards. One of them was wearing a red hoodie, images from the AFP news agency showed. According to the police, the suspected perpetrators had previously beaten several people.
Media, citing local authorities, reported one death and at least ten injuries. Several parade participants were wheeled away on stretchers by paramedics and taken to nearby hospitals. Several injured children were reportedly taken to nearby Children’s Mercy Hospital.
