The skiers completed their first downhill training for the weekend’s Speed Triple (two downhills, one Super-G) in Crans-Montana USA. The fastest is the German Kira Weidle. She pushes Ragnhild Mowinckel (No) into second place with nine hundredths, followed behind her by Federica Brignone (It) at 19 hundredths.
Lara Gut-Behrami was the best Swiss woman in 9th place. The Ticino woman is 64 hundredths behind Weidle. With Priska Nufer (14th, +0.93) and Jasmine Flury (18th, +1.25), two more Swiss ski athletes are in the top 20. However, a first training run is not really useful. Some drivers do not pass through all gates correctly or take it easy and do not seek full speed.
The latter probably also applies to Michelle Gisin. After her fall in Cortina d’Ampezzo (It), she made her comeback this weekend in the slalom in Soldeu (And). Now that the bruised shoe edge has healed, she wants to attack again in the fast disciplines. When she returned, she finished 46th, losing 3.69 seconds from her best training time. (beer)
