Two gold, two silver: Stefanie Grob won comfortably at the last Junior World Championships. And this time too, the 19-year-old from Appenzeller from Weissbad AI has big plans. “I feel good, I am healthy and I can ski well,” she said before the title races in Portes du Soleil (Fr) in the Haute-Savoie department. Grob would love to hoard precious metals here again.

Grob’s first chance comes on Tuesday in the descent, but her teammate Malorie Blanc (20) is the bigger Swiss ace. “I would like to compete in the giant slalom,” says Grob. Why? Simple: “Because I do this discipline the most.”

The World Cup is being looked forward to

In fact, the carefree Appenzeller resident has always been used at the highest level in the giant slalom this winter. Grob did not score any points, but was only one hundredth short in Lienz (Austria) and would have reached the second point. “We have been able to train very well recently in South Tyrol – I am looking forward to the World Cup,” said last year’s best young Swiss athlete.
