Not even Roman Josis (l.) Predators can end the Edmonton Oilers’ winning streak.

It is the sixteenth win in a row for the Edmonton Oilers, tied with the Columbus Blue Jackets, who achieved this feat in the 2016/17 season. The Oilers are just one win shy of the Pittsburgh Penguins’ record from the 1992-93 season, which they are aiming for in the away game against the Vegas Golden Knights after the All-Star Game interruption on February 6.

The decision against the Nashville Predators includes the strongest team in the league with three goals from their parade line around Conor McDavid. The top scorer assisted on the powerplay goals of Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (8th) and Leon Draisaitl (32nd) and scored the 3-0 himself in the 50th minute. Nashville’s consolation goal from Colton Sissons (54th) means that Edmonton has to give up at least another goal after more than 165 minutes.

Hischier’s assists aren’t enough for New Jersey

Of the remaining Swiss who took action on Saturday, only Pius Suter left the ice as the winner. In the days following his hat trick against St. Louis, the Zurich native was able to shine as a goal assist for the Vancouver Canucks in their 5-4 overtime victory against Columbus Blue.

Despite two assists from captain Nico Hischier, the New Jersey Devils lost 3-6 to the Tampa Bay Lightning. Janis Moser also joined the scorers with an assist in the Arizona Coyotes’ 1:3 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes.

Nino Niederreiter suffered his fourth straight loss to the Winnipeg Jets as they lost 4-2 at home to the Toronto Maple Leafs. Philipp Kuraschew has also been waiting four games for a win with the Chicago Blackhawks after the 0-1 defeat in Calgary. (SDA/mab)
