Marco Odermatt, winner
‘This is a very special moment. It was so close so often. I’ve already noticed there isn’t much left. That’s why I went full throttle, risked everything and shot perfectly. I’m very happy. When I reached the finish line I noticed it was really good. If you get eight tenths off Kilde in the short descent, you know that there are not many others who can be faster. The world title was more surprising and clearer, there was more relief in the shout. Here it was a little different, but also beautiful. The question about the first victory did not bother me. Negative statistics such as eleven podiums without a win… there are still eleven podiums, that’s not so tragic. That was complaining at a high level. Now I’m motivated for tomorrow’s race. We discovered something about the equipment that I have never ridden before. That worked so well today, I will adjust it for tomorrow as well.”
Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, 3rd place
“I’m doing well. The head wasn’t 100 percent there, but the body was definitely there. That’s why I didn’t win, but Odi deserved to win. In good weather we can always ride. And I know the route so good. The jump went a bit far, which happens when the timing isn’t quite right.”
