Strong European Championship short program: Britschgi on course for a medal

Lukas Britschgi impresses in the short program and goes into the free skate on Friday with a very good chance of a medal.

Britschgi withstood the pressure caused by his strong results in recent months. The Swiss hopeful completed his mandatory program with apparent ease and without mistakes. With 91.17 points he was just below his personal record.

Only the French defending champion Adam Siao Him Fa (94.13) was better than Britschgi in Lithuania. The Swiss’ reserve over fourth-placed Italian Gabriele Frangipani is 7.66 points.

Last year, Britschgi took 5th place after the European Short Program Championships and reached the podium thanks to his performance in the free skate. This time the starting position for a medal is considerably better. (SDA)
