Timo Meier is celebrating.

After trailing three times, the New Jersey Devils defeated the Columbus Blue Jackets 4-3 in overtime.

In the 63rd minute, Timo Meier took advantage of a failed finishing attempt, grabbed the puck and completed his solo run across the ice with the celebrated winning goal. The 27-year-old striker is on the top scorers list for the third game in a row.

Captain Nico Hischier and Jonas Siegenthaler also played in the Devils’ home win. Goaltender Akira Schmid, on the other hand, has to sit in the stands, while Nico Daws, who comes from the AHL, is on the bench, replacing Vitek Vanecek.

Fiala’s goal heralds a turnaround

With the Los Angeles Kings, Kevin Fiala ended his twelve-game slump without scoring a goal – and copied his Swiss colleague in the process. About an hour and a half after Meier’s goal, the St. Gallen player also managed to capture the opponent’s puck and move it alone to the opponent’s goalkeeper.

His equalizer at the start of the second period marked the turning point in the match, as the Kings won the home game against the San Jose Sharks 5-1.

In the Swiss match between Philipp Kurashev and Nino Niederreiter, the former narrowly has the upper hand. The Chicago Blackhawks celebrate a 2-1 overtime victory against the Winnipeg Jets thanks to two goals from Connor Bedards, the first overall pick in the draft.
