Scout Winterthur failed to become the second Swiss team, besides the Kadetten Schaffhausen, to reach the main round of the European League, the second highest level of the European Handball Cup. At the end of the preliminary round, the team from Zurich lost to the Spanish representative Cuenca in 24:28.

If they won, the Swiss team would have reached second place, which is eligible for promotion. But the Spaniards, although already eliminated, did not distribute gifts. They took the lead with a score of 5:4 and never let it go.

Things will get serious for Schaffhausen in the new year

Kriens-Luzern, which had already been eliminated before the last match day, achieved a respectable success at the end of the preliminary round phase. The central Swiss team achieved their first win in the home match against bottom team AEK Athens (39:27).

The cadets lost to Elverum from Norway at 27:31. For the team from Schaffhausen, which had already secured a ticket for the main round before kick-off, it will continue in Europe from February.
