After his triumph, Djokovic threw his racket into the crowd. The lucky catcher was Abby Doherty. “It all happened in slow motion. He just threw it into the crowd. “I had an ‘Oh my God’ moment because he was coming straight at us,” she told Daily Mail of her lucky catch.

Only eight players managed to do the same

She kept the racket in her home for about seven years. The historic tennis racket is now being auctioned at auction house “SCP Auctions”. According to experts, the racket could fetch up to $100,000. The highest bid is currently (as of November 30) around $23,500.

Only eight tennis players have ever achieved a career Grand Slam title. They won all four Grand Slam tournaments at least once in their career. In addition to Djokovic, Fred Perry (1935), Don Budge (1938), Rod Laver (1962), Roy Emerson (1964), Andre Agassi (1999), Roger Federer (2009) and Rafael Nadal (2010) achieved this. (mab)
