Actress Margot Robbie (33), singer Beyoncé (42), Karin Keller-Sutter (59) – the FDP federal councilor will be happy about it: she has reached the international spotlight. The British magazine Financial Times ranks the Swiss finance minister among the 25 most influential women in the world.
The end result is a list full of women who have received prestigious awards. But “even Nobel Prizes, Pulitzer Prizes, Grammys and World Championships cannot fully capture the complexity of their work,” the magazine writes.
“We all owe her a lot of gratitude”
And Keller-Sutter is showered with praise: “Knowledge, courage and determination are perhaps the most important qualities of a politician – and for me Karin embodies all of that,” writes Swedish Finance Minister Elisabeth Svantesson (56) about her Swiss colleague. In both cases, there are other powerful women giving their opinions on the chosen ones.
But the praise goes even further: “Karin’s decisive action in tackling the Credit Suisse banking crisis at the beginning of the year saved the Swiss economy,” Svantesson continued. “We all owe her a great debt of gratitude.”
The FDP could use a radiant figure
Keller-Sutter’s FDP is at least as happy with its laurels as the Minister of Finance himself. She happily spreads the good news on social media – albeit with the signet ring on Keller-Sutter’s face.
The liberal, who was shocked at October’s parliamentary elections, knows that after the election is before the election. A figure in the spotlight in the Federal Council can only help.
