Reto Gertschen is the new coach of the national women’s team.

After the divorce of Inka Grings, it is clear who will coach the women’s team for the Nations League matches against Sweden (December 1) and Italy (December 5): Reto Gertschen will take over for the time being.

The association therefore finds an internal solution. Gertschen has been working as head of trainer training at the SFV since 2017 and, among other things, leads the training for the highest trainer license. In this role he already deals with current national team players who are currently obtaining their C diploma. “I see it as a vote of confidence in the work that has been done to take on the position as interim coach of the women’s national team,” said Gertschen, who wants to take on the challenge of preparing the team for the games in December in a short time. “We want to end the year with a positive result.” Like Grings, Gertschen is assisted by Selver Hodzic.

First performance on Friday

“As head coach for many years, he has had his finger on the pulse and has already worked with several players,” SFV chairman Dominique Blanc explains the decision in favor of Gertschen. “Together we will use the short time to play the last two matches in the best possible way by joining forces,” added women’s football director Marion Daube.

Gertschen will act as interim head of the women’s national team for the first time next Friday. The selection for the matches against Sweden and Spain will then be announced. (dti)
