The tension among those responsible for the Matterhorn races is palpable. If there is no training on Thursday, the women’s descents on the “Gran Becca” will probably not take place. Because: The wind is expected to be so strong on Friday that no training will take place (just like on Wednesday).
“The forecast is much better for Thursday. It should become calmer and we do not expect any precipitation. The chances of training are quite good,” says FIS women’s race director Peter Gerdol.
Three drivers for one ticket
If there are two training sessions, Noémie Kolly (25) and the sisters Juliana (25) and Jasmina Suter (28) will compete for a ticket on Friday. If the race is only held on Thursday, the times are not decisive: the trainers award the last place.
