There will also be no racing on the Matterhorn during the women’s race week. The first downhill training must be canceled on Wednesday.
Just like for the men, the wind in particular makes a training run impossible in otherwise “ideal snow conditions and virtually cloudless skies”, according to the organizers.
Some fresh snow also fell last night. However, it only rained in the finish area, which would not have been particularly problematic for the organizers, as race director Peter Gerdol (60) says: “Rain would be better for us at this time.” But because there was fresh snow on the rest of the route, this decision had to be made.
Instead of on the track, Corinne Suter and Co. used. the time to ski freely on the regular slopes. The prospects for training should be better on Thursday. We are still hoping for improvements in the weather for the race weekend. The weather forecast should be promising, especially on Sunday. (che/like)
