United convinces against Spurs, banker Ronaldo steps away in irritation
Manchester United beat Tottenham Hotspur at home in the Premier League. At Old Trafford it was 2-0 for Erik ten Hag’s team.
Liverpool struggled to a 1-0 win over West Ham United at home and Chelsea couldn’t get past a 0-0 draw against Brentford.
Number one and two Arsenal and Manchester City will not play in this midweek round as Arsenal play a catch-up game against PSV in the Europa League tomorrow.

United pushed hard in the first half. As a result, Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris had to act several times. Marcus Rashford, Luke Shaw, Fred, Bruno Fernandes and Antony all faced the France keeper. The prolific Antony also shot the post again.
United scored a goal in the first few minutes after the break. Fred’s shot was deflected and went into goal. Fifteen minutes later, Bruno Fernandes doubled the score. Tottenham didn’t offer enough throughout the game to give United a hard time.
Ronaldo irritated
Donny van de Beek was not part of the United selection due to injury. Like Cristiano Ronaldo, Tyrell Malacia stayed on the bench for 90 minutes. Visibly irritated, the Portuguese went into the dressing room before the final whistle.
“I’ll take care of that tomorrow, now we’re celebrating the win,” said Ten Hag.
Liverpool surpassed West Ham United in the first half and took the lead through Darwin Núñez in the 22nd minute. The Uruguayan nodded after a cross from former Willem II player Konstantinos Tsimikas.
Jarrod Bowen missed a penalty for West Ham just before half-time. It was exciting until the last minute. Virgil van Dijk played the entire game for Liverpool.
