It is actually an act that is common: football players changing their jerseys. You see it often, every now and then even during the break. And yet it was irritating when YB captain Mohamed Ali Camara went after Erling Haaland’s jersey going into the break on Tuesday. The Guinean international ran like a schoolboy after the Norwegian superstar, who was also his direct opponent. Of course he was criticized for that.

A clumsy action

So on Wednesday a shit storm poured over Camara. YB initially spoke of an “unfortunate” action. After a debriefing by the sporting management, the tone became slightly sharper. It is now an ‘awkward’ action. It sounds like this: “The sporting management discussed the scene with Ali Camara. He is also aware that it was a clumsy move and that the timing was not appropriate.

From jacket pocket to jacket pocket

But Camara is not the only one who flew back to Switzerland with a jersey from the city goal monster. National player Cedric Itten arranged the shirt that Haaland wore in the second half, after both players were substituted after just over an hour. This process is also recorded by the cameras. Only: the timing is better because the game is over when the transfer takes place.

It soon becomes clear that Itten took precautions early on. Because you see Haaland talking to Loris Benito first. It looks like he’s explaining that he’s shirtless. He then hugs two of his teammates before walking towards Itten, reaching into his jacket pocket and pulling out his shirt. He hands it to the Swiss, who immediately hides it in his jacket.

One thing is certain: even without the souvenir hunt, YB would have gone down in Manchester without any problems. The Bernese team did not fire a single shot at the city goal. YB could have easily done without the photos of the clumsy Camara action.
